Overview
Ferrosilicon is an alloy of iron and silicon produced in submerged arc furnaces from quartz, a carbon reductant and iron-bearing material. It is one of the most widely consumed ferroalloys, used wherever silicon must be added to liquid steel or iron. FeroJam sources ferrosilicon from qualified producers and offers it against agreed chemistry, sizing and packaging.
Applications
Deoxidation
Removes oxygen from liquid steel during secondary metallurgy.
Alloying
Adds silicon to electrical, spring and structural steels.
Inoculation
Controls graphite structure in grey and ductile iron.
Nodulariser base
Base alloy for FeSiMg used in ductile iron production.
