Steel Sections
Hot-rolled angles, channels, beams and other sections of iron or non-alloy steel, specified by profile, dimension and structural standard.
Overview
HS 7216 covers angles, shapes and sections of iron or non-alloy steel, including equal and unequal angles, channels, I and H sections, and T sections, generally hot rolled and in some cases cold formed. Specification is governed by the profile designation, the dimensional series under the applicable standard, and the structural grade, which together determine the section properties a designer is relying on.
Applications
- Structural steelwork and building frames
- Bridges, towers and infrastructure
- Fabrication, machinery frames and supports
- Shipbuilding and heavy engineering
Typical specifications
Commercial ranges commonly encountered in international trade. These are indicative only. Confirmed analysis is issued per lot against the agreed specification for a shipment.
| ATTRIBUTE | TYPICAL RANGE | NOTES |
|---|---|---|
| Profiles | Equal and unequal angle, channel (UPN/UPE), I and H beam (IPE/HEA/HEB), T | Designation follows the standard |
| Structural grades | S235, S275, S355 and regional equivalents | Grade follows the destination standard |
| Length | 6 m to 12 m | Other lengths by agreement |
| Condition | Hot rolled; some profiles cold formed | State which is acceptable |
Forms and sizing
Hot-rolled sections in standard dimensional series, cut to length, with tolerance class per the governing standard.
